Our personal review (visited 2012)

After negotiating the last couple of kilometers on rough coral road in our 4 wheel drive, we were welcomed with a genuine smile, a fresh passion fruit juice and a cold refreshing towel to wipe away the memories of the road.

The resident manager Yunus invited us into one of the most luxurious villas we have seen on the island. Our gaze was automatically attracted to the most magnificent ocean view that lay across the whole wall of french doors of this huge open plan living area. The large modern kitchen with a wooden central island was shadowed by the view of expensive furniture, well chosen pieces of art, swimming pool and sea.

The living room with its dark polished wooden floor is divided into various well designed & decorated living spaces and relaxing areas, all covered in large soft Persian carpets. The sofa sets are light in colour with ample soft cushions providing a wonderful contrasts to the dark hardwood frame as well as the floor.

The villa has 3 very large double, en-suite and airconditioned bedrooms that Yunus took us through.

There are two equally sized and furnished bedrooms on either side of the living room. Entering both, we were positively reliefed that the view of the Ocean remained unobstructed through further french doors. At the centre of the room, facing the sea view is a Queen sized traditional Zanzibarian bed with matching bedside tables. To the side of the room lays a coffee table and 2 comfortable relaxing chairs. The spacious bathrooms had a modern sink in the shape of a large bowl with plenty of toilettery space, a toilet and shower.

A flight of solid dark wooden stairs took us to the entrance of this extremely large open plan master bedroom. A Swahili style king-sized bed with beautifully chosen local fabrics faces a queen-sized bed on the other side of the room. Towards the large french doors is a free standing bathtub, a shower cabin, two sinks and a toilet. The personal wash area is separated by beautifully hand carved wooden paravents. The french door spills out onto a private veranda with an absolutely stunning view over the reef and Mnemba Island with it's sparkling white beaches.

The villa comes fully staffed, including a professional chef who will be happy to serve you a tropical breakfast on the large wooden table on the veranda that overlooks the pool and ocean.

The infinity pool is situated a stone throw away, is furnished with very comfortable deck chairs and sun umbrellas. Relaxing on the deck chairs, facing the Indian Ocean made us feel what tranquility is really about. By the pool is a long wide and solid staircase that leads directly to the beach, however, this beach is only accessible during low tide.

In the garden, near to the main entrance of the villa, is a studio that can accommodate additional guests or personell (at extra charge and on request).

This african luxury villa is more than required for spending a memorable vacation on this tropical island in paradise.

Service: The villa is managed by a professional and friendly management team. A chef and daily cleaning is included. Airport transfer, laundry, customized tours and excursions on request.

Excursions: The location of the villa allows for swift access to the coral reef, and its nearby beach is perfect for walks at sunrise. The numerous rock pools will also keep younger visitors entertained. In Matemwe and on Mnemba island there are 5* PADI diving schools that offer a range of courses, superb dive trips and snorkelling excursions. You will also find kite surfing available in Matemwe.
